Dallas, Texas is third largest city in Texas and the County Seat of Dallas County. It is also a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, which is the largest metropolitan area in the south. Dallas was founded in 1841 in Northern Texas on the Trinity River near “white rock crossing” where it was said to be easier for wagons to cross in the days before ferries or bridges. The river is not usefully navigable, however Dallas is still considered a major inland port due largely to the presence of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which a very large and busy airport. The 5 most Popular Neighborhoods in the Dallas Area would be (1) Central Dallas, the center of the city along with Oak Lawn and Uptown, (2) East Dallas, home to Deep Ellum, Vickery Place Bryan Place and Preston Hollow among others , and home to some of Texas’ wealthiest residents and most expensive homes, (3) Midtown Dallas, which is the location of North Park Mall, SMU, White Rock Lake and other attractions, (4) Southwest Dallas home of Oak Cliff and (5) South Dallas home to the Cedars and State Fair of Texas. Dallas is a choice of many because of its fine reputation of being a great place to live.
